Our Current Needs for 2009
Mini Hearts Wish List - Updated November 2008
These are the things we need that keep us going in order of importance.
1) Larger Barn with more stalls:
We need a medium sized barn to be built on our property with at least 4 stalls and more if possible. Loft area for hay storage. (This will allow us to expand the herd and take in neglected horses)
2) A wash station in barn for the minis.
Consisting of hot & cold water run from the main house to a wash area with concrete floor and a drain inside the new barn. Groomers blow dryer. High quality blower used to both dry, and get the dust off the thick hair on the minis so they are well groomed for their visits. (2) Drying Coats (for Miniature Horses). Lets the horses continue to dry after baths while still keeping them clean in case they roll.
Smaller items that are needed for the wash station: Extra (mini - 1-300 lbs.) Halters, Leads (lead ropes), Brushes, Horse Shampoo, Stall Mats, Show Shine
3) Fencing and Entry Gates:
Farm fencing for sides of front property. Three rail wood fencing and posts for front of property. Electric iron front entrance gate. Labor and materials for afore mentioned. (This will allow Mini Hearts to expand it's pasture so the horses have more room to roam and eat. During drought periods such as 2006, this would be a vital need so that we can rotate the pasture feeding areas properly. This will also allow us to expand the herd, take in rescues, and reach more people in the community.)
4) Miniature Horse ongoing upkeep needs:
Bales of good quality hay. Platform brand Miniature Horse Feed (available at Tractor Supply). Donations to get the Minis hooves trimmed and maintained once every two months for Ferrier Services. Yearly shots and vet visits. Misc. products needed - de-wormer, fly spray, wood shavings for bedding, and of course we cannot forget the all important peppermint horse treats! Requested daily by Charlie & Sweet Pea.
5) Office and Administrative needs:
(1) Cell phone dedicated for Mini Hearts use. (1) Laptop computer for presentations and on site access of videos and information. (1) High quality digital camera for promotional needs. (1) Polaroid camera and film for on site instant pictures to give to children on our visits.
